Semi-industrial Tests of Pressure Leaching on High-iron Sphalerite Concentrate

Wang Jikun,Zhou Tingxi,Wu Jinmei

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 1,   Pages 60-64

Abstract:

High-iron sphalerite was subjected to two-stage pressure leaching. The leaching rate of zinc and iron was 97.09 % and 15.2 % respectively. The yield of elemental sulphur was 93 % . The residual acid in the leachate was 3.95 g/L. By easy neutralization and purification, zinc sulphate solution was obtained, which would be sent to the zinc electrowinning operation. For the purpose of comparison, one-stage pressure leaching on average sphalerite was conducted. Leaching rate of zinc and iron was 98.09 % and 37.88 % respectively, and the yield of elemental sulphur was 96 % . The leachate with higher acid content (46.4 g/L) could be integrated into the existing traditional hydrometallurgical process of zinc

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 7,   Pages 817-842 doi: 10.1007/s11709-022-0844-y

Abstract: To research the axial compression behavior of steel reinforced recycled concrete (SRRC) short columns confined by carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) strips, nine scaled specimens of SRRC short columns were fabricated and tested under axial compression loading. Subsequently, the failure process and failure modes were observed, and load-displacement curves as well as the strain of various materials were analyzed. The effects on the substitution percentage of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), width of CFRP strips, spacing of CFRP strips and strength of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) on the axial compression properties of columns were also analyzed in the experimental investigation. Furthermore, the finite element model of columns which can consider the adverse influence of RCA and the constraint effect of CFRP strips was founded by ABAQUS software and the nonlinear parameter analysis of columns was also implemented in this study. The results show that the first to reach the yield state was the profile steel in the columns, then the longitudinal rebars and stirrups yielded successively, and finally RAC was crushed as well as the CFRP strips was also broken. The replacement rate of RCA has little effect on the columns, and with the substitution rate of RCA from 0 to 100%, the bearing capacity of columns decreased by only 4.8%. Increasing the CFRP strips width or decreasing the CFRP strips spacing could enhance the axial bearing capacity of columns, the maximum increase was 10.5% or 11.4%, and the ductility of columns was significantly enhanced. Obviously, CFRP strips are conducive to enhance the axial bearing capacity and deformation capacity of columns. On this basis, considering the restraint effect of CFRP strips and the adverse effects of RCA, the revised formulas for calculating the axial bearing capacity of SRRC short columns confined by CFRP strips were proposed.

Analysis of factors affecting passengers ’ mountain sickness basedon nonparamertric tests

Chang Haijuan,Liu Meng,Pang Liping,Yang Peng,Wang Jun

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 2,   Pages 65-69

Abstract:

2 882 samples were taken in Qinghai- Tibet railway cars, and 1 693 samples were taken out randomly, then the factors that may affect the ability of individual' s hypoxia- resistant were analyzed in statistics. This paper has done this work by nonparametric statistics and correlation analysis , and got the conclusion that five factors, which are mountain sickness one have suffered before, sex, smoking frequency, bodily form and age, influence individual' s hypoxia- resistant ability. The conclusion makes a good sense, as it can provide statistics foundation for continuous iatrical research, while giving directive suggestion to reduce passengers' mountain sickness, and providing warranty for the design and amelioration of oxygen supplying system in Qinghai- Tibet railway cars .

Nonlinear experimental response of non-conventional composite steel and concrete connection

Tobia ZORDAN, Bruno BRISEGHELLA

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 42-49 doi: 10.1007/s11709-008-0058-y

Abstract: An experiment was carried out on a set of full-scale specimens of a non-conventional connection between a concrete column and a composite steel and concrete beam defined on the basis of a number of requirements. The proposed connection, conceived in the ambit of semi-rigid joints, is aimed at combining general ease of construction with a highly simplified assembly procedure with a satisfying transmission of hogging moment at supports in continuous beams. For this purpose, the traditional shear studs used at the interface between the steel beam and the upper concrete slab, are also employed at the ends of the steel profiles welded horizontally to the end plates. The test is aimed at investigating the hogging moment response of the connection under incremental loads until failure.
